Welcome
to 1st Grade!
My
name is Ms. Micah Barks and I am excited to have your children in my class this
year!
We
are going to learn so much here in 1st grade. We have a classroom
full of vibrant, intelligent, beautiful young learners! Let’s see how they blossom over the course of
the school year.
Please

Congratulations

Some
things we learned:
· In
· In Writing: Writing on a variety of topics (silly
stories, things we notice around the classroom/school, bad times/fun times).
· In Math: How to tell time to the quarter hour and
half hour, how to measure using standard and nonstandard units, the value of a
nickel and dime, greater than, less than, equal to, addition facts, measuring
with a pan balance, sorting animals by weight, base-10 blocks for 2-digit
addition, frames and arrows, and so much more!
· In Content: We investigated seasonal changes, in how
it affects the way we live and dress and plants. We learned about Geography: how to make and
interpret maps and their symbols. We
learned about Plants: the parts and functions of plants and how to classify
them. We even set up our own 4-week controlled
experiment, investigating plant needs!
We
are looking forward to a superb 3rd Quarter!
We
were Star Class of the Month for November/December, too!
We
earned the most 1st grade tickets for hallway behavior!
Ms.
Barks’ class is truly awesome!!! Popcorn
party…here we come!
